What is the RC Signal-Master ?
The CARVEC RC Signal Master is a module which allows multiple receivers to be connected (up to 5) of different formats.
It has 2 (Primary and Secondary) serial input/output channels. Either can be any input format. The output channels can be freely selected and mixed from any of the input channels.
Each output channel can be assigned from 2 separate input channels and will automatically select which is valid. The selection can also be made by another channel linked to a radio switch.
What kind of receivers are supported ?
The Signal-Master (SM) supports SBUS,SBUS2, PPM, Spektrum Satellite DSM/DSM2/DSMX and PWM receiver inputs.
What does this mean - what will it do ?
1) Convert one input format to another (eg SBUS to PWM, PPM to SBUS, Spektrum to SBUS etc etc)
2) Generate 8 PWM outputs from SBUS, PPM or Spektrum Satellite inputs
3) Switch between 2 different receivers automatically if one goes into failsafe or if selected by a switch on either transmitter.
4) Allows inputs to be smoothed before output - ideal for things like camera gimbal slewing.
OK, I know what it will do - but what can it be used for ?.
Your imagination is the limit, but practical applications include:
1) Auto switch between 2 SBUS receivers if one goes into failsafe to give a redundant system. They can even be using 2 separate transmitters for a truly redundant backup control system.
2) Allow a trainer to switch control to or from a student even when they are using different radio brands.
3) Allow a safety pilot to monitor an aircraft and take control if required.
4) Allow switching between an automatic input (eg an autopilot) and a real pilot input for UAV development and operation.
5) Merging two radio inputs into one output - eg allow another radio to control certain functions under the control of the main pilot.
6) Switching control of a camera gimbal from the main receiver to a second receiver to allow switchable single/dual operator setups.
7) Generating up to 8 PWM outputs from an SBUS/PPM/Spektrum satellite receiver.
8) Converting one receiver type into another - eg. SBUS into PPM.
9) Linking with a remotely mounted G-Lock using the CARVEC High-Speed-Link (HSL)
